Is it ok to put baking soda on your face as a facial scrub? It makes my sking feel soft, but is it really bad?

I put some baking soda in my hand and add water and wash my face as a scrub (i read online that you can use i as a homemade facial scrub and a lot of people on yahoo answers said it works great). Although my face feels soft im not sure if it really srub the dead skin of and if baking soda is harming my face? Should I stop using it?Is it ok to put baking soda on your face as a facial scrub? I've actually done this myself quite a bit and never had any problems with it. I've heard great things about it from others too. It's almost like a micro-exfoliant since the particle size is very small. Since baking soda is basic/alkaline, I've heard of some people actually using an acid like apple cider vinegar as a toner afterwards, to balance pH levels. Unless you're noticing problems with using baking soda (redness, dryness or something like that), I think it should work great for you.

Here you can read what other people think using baking soda on their faces:

Some of it's related to using baking soda to get clear skin, but some people comment on using it just as an exfoliant, which is what I do. (This website is pretty good if you're interested in reading reviews about home remedies, over the counter products, etc.)

Salt and sugar scrubs could also be used, but they're more abrasive and are better suited to parts of your body where the skin is thicker. Otherwise, it could cause irritation.

Baking soda is all natural. I'm not sue how well it exfoliates though. It is usually used to purify or clean your skin. Try adding some salt into the mixture. Salt will exfoliate better and is all natural and will not harm your skin. Just do it every other day though. Be sure to use a good moisturizer and 15spf.
Baking soda isnt abrasive, so Im not sure why you would use it to get skin off. Try some brown sugar, butter, and water. Stick that in the microwave for a few seconds, and put that on your face. That should work better, and you dont have to worry that it might be bad.
no, baking soda won't harm your face, but it's not abrasive enough to get off the dead skin.

try putting some sugar in it. that will add a grainy feeling so it gets the dead skin off.
Sure, if it's working and your skins not irritated.
you should stop using baking soda bacause it is only use for baking, and it could cause harmful effects on your skin.
